- Evaluated over 10 GIS datasets from government, academic, and private databases based on the data’s geographic
- coverage and potential relation to natural landscape loss for use in empirical, machine learning-based models.
- Utilized Terrset’s Land Change Modeler and the MLP neural network algorithm to model natural landscape loss
- to agricultural expansion and urbanization and predict landcover in 2050 at a continental and individual country scale.
- Downloaded Tier 1 & 2 Landsat 7 and Landsat 8 imagery from USGS EarthExplorer and georeferenced Tier 2
- Followed a strict remote sensing protocol and conducted supervised classification using machine learning techniques, including MLP neural networks and Mahalanobis Distance, to identify key landcover types including aquaculture ponds, mangrove forests, and wetland.
- Collaborated with a research cohort to measure over 1,000 urban trees in the Massachusetts urban landscape.
- Conducted geo-informatic and urban sustainability research for the Greening the Gateway Cities program.
- Presented findings to the United States Department of Agriculture, the Department of Conservation and Recreation, Worcester legislators and the Clark University Board of Trustees.
- Awarded the Theodore Van Laue Undergraduate Prize for my work in urban forest resiliency, accomplishments, and commitments in the search for peace, equitable distribution of resources, and environmental justice.
